Important Information for All Registrants:
This semester, you will mark your preferences here for classes based on interest and eligibility. Once you’ve marked your preferences, a member of the CO_LAB staff will confirm your placement within ten days. Please keep your eyes open for emails from programs@colabtheatergroup.com. Thanks!

Deposit: A $100 deposit is required to secure your place in class, refundable at the end of the semester. If you would like a discount code to assist with registration costs, please reach out to Senior Program Manager Maddie Rostami (programs@colabtheatergroup.com). All are welcome at CO_LAB, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Festival Performance: Our Winter Festival will be on Sunday, Dec 14th with a mandatory rehearsal on Saturday, Dec 13th; participants in Youth Ensemble Theater, Brooklyn Ensemble Theater, and Physical Comedy Ensemble classes will be required to attend the Festival. Please save the dates!

Access Information: All classroom spaces, including hallways, rehearsal studio, and bathroom, is fully accessible to anyone using a mobility device. CO_LAB will have sensory tools such as fidgets, headphones, and sunglasses available for participants. There is also a designated quiet space outside of the main classroom. If you would benefit from additional accommodations, including the presence of a designated support person, please reach out to Senior Programs Manager Maddie Rostami at programs@colabtheatergroup.com.
Act One Classes:
Brooklyn Ensemble Theater will meet on Wednesdays from 6:30-8pm at ART/NY South Oxford Space (138 S. Oxford St, Brooklyn, NY).
- This class is open to NEW and RETURNING participants ages 18+.
- ACT ONE classes are semester-long, ensemble-focused, and are an introduction to theater and CO_LAB’s unique style of collaborative theater-making.
- In ENSEMBLE THEATER, participants will work on developing basic theater skills, utilizing both physical and vocal techniques. The class will use theater exercises to explore character, environment, improv, and storytelling and work as an ensemble to devise original work.
- Our first class will be on Wednesday, September 10th.
Youth Ensemble Theater will meet on Sundays from 10:30a-12:00pm at ART/NY Manhattan (520 8th Ave, New York, NY).
- This class is open to NEW and RETURNING participants ages 10-17.
- ACT ONE classes are semester-long, ensemble-focused, and are an introduction to theater and CO_LAB’s unique style of collaborative theater-making.
- In YOUTH ENSEMBLE THEATER, participants will work on developing basic theater skills, utilizing both physical and vocal techniques. The class will use theater exercises to explore character, environment, improv, and storytelling and work as an ensemble to devise original work.
- Our first class will be on Sunday, September 14th.
Act Two Classes
Virtual Ensemble will meet on Wednesdays from 6:30-8pm on Zoom!
- This class is open to participants ages 18+ who have previously completed at least two semesters of Act One (Ensemble Theater).
- ACT TWO classes are semester-long classes for returning participants, themed around a specific skill or style, and focused on deepening the skills introduced in Act One.
- The focus of our VIRTUAL offering will be finalized in late-August. Stay tuned for more details!
- Please note: Participants in the Virtual class will not physically perform in the Winter Festival but the class will create work that will be shared with our community, and you're welcome to attend!
- Our first class will be on Wednesday, September 10th.
Physical Comedy Ensemble will meet on Saturdays from 1:30-3:00pm ART/NY Manhattan (520 8th Ave, Manhattan NY).
- This class is open to RETURNING participants ages 18+.
- ACT TWO classes are semester-long classes for returning participants, themed around a specific skill or style, and focused on deepening the skills introduced in Act One.
- In Physical Comedy, participants will explore the playful world of clown through physical comedy, improvisation, and character work. The class will use theater exercises to discover each participant’s unique clown persona, cultivate vulnerability and humor, and devise original clown pieces together as an ensemble.
- Our first class will be on Saturday, September 13th.
Act Three Classes
Musical Theater Production will meet on Saturdays from 10:30a-12:30pm at ART/NY Manhattan (520 8th Ave, New York, NY).
- This class is open to participants ages 17+ who have previously completed four full semesters of CO_LAB:core classes.
- ACT THREE classes are year-long, themed around a specific skill or style, and focused on working collaboratively with an ensemble to develop an original show.
- MUSICAL THEATER PRODUCTION is a FULL YEAR class. Actors will work with CO_LAB Teaching Artists and guest artists to devise a Musical Theater production to be performed Friday, May 15th through Sunday, May 17th 2026. Tech Week will begin on Monday, May 11th, 2026. There will be 2-3 additional rehearsals in May (communicated by the start of the fall semester). In April, all classes will run from 10:30a-1pm for additional rehearsal time.
- Actors must commit to both semesters of Musical Theater Production (Fall 2025 and Spring 2026).
- *Because of the hyper-collaborative nature of a production, actors cannot have more than two conflicts per semester and no conflicts during April - May 2026
- Our first class will be Saturday, September 13th.
